The new SummerGlen Grand Hall is now complete... months ahead of its original projected opening date in early 2010. This beautiful new facility offers more than 8,000 square feet under roof, and features full flexible meeting space, a stage with sound system and projection video system, a catering kitchen, multi-purpose meeting room and offices for the SummerGlen Homeowners' Association.
From groundbreaking in early April 2009 (see progress photos below), the Grand Hall was completed in just five months and is ready to host a variety of SummerGlen events and activities, from formal dances to live shows and theatrical productions.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE NEW GRAND HALL
Maximum seating for the Grand Hall is about 550 people for theater style or 250 for dinners or other table seating eventys.
The Grand Hall is the "greenest" building ever constructed at SummerGlen with all flourescent lighting, sealed and insulated attic for maximum energey efficiency, solar tubes to provide ambient daytime lighting, and many other features designed to save energy.
The Grand Hall's air conditioning system will utilize CO2 sensors to control the amount of outside air needed to properly ventilate building, thereby saving on air conditioning when the building is less than fully occupied.
The Grand Hall will feature a 14' x 14' automated drop down projection screen and a state of the art video projection system. This will allow for showing of movies and other presentations, plus will serve as a giant screen digital bingo projection board.

This week, we are beginning to lay carpeting, as well as the wooden dance floor on the main floor. We are also beginning installation of the stage lighting that will provide the illumination needed for stage shows and other events.

Grand Hall is now rapidly taking on its finished exterior appearance with exterior painting in progress and preparations for exterior walkways. Inside, work continues on the acoustical ceiling and air conditioning, plus tiling of the front entry and restroom areas.

Exterior finishes in the Grand Hall are virtually complete and ready for painting. Inside, workers prepare the grid for the acoustical drop ceiling. The tile entry is being laid, and interior painting continues.

Work on siding continues on the exterior of the Grand Hall. Inside, we are completing drywalling and have begun to paint the interior walls. Work is also continuing on A/C installation.

This week, we began to appy siding to the exterior of the Grand Hall, and simultaneously commenced drywall installation on the inside. Shingling of the roof and all insulation is now complete.

JUNE 4, 2009
Roof shingling and installation of the polyisonene foam insulation onto the underside of the Grand Hall deck is now complete. Interior framing is also now done, and we are now beginning to install air conditioning ductwork and interior electrical components.

This week, workers began installing the polyisonene foam insultation to the underside of the Grand Hall's roof deck. This special adhesive foam insultation will help make the Grand Hall the most energy efficient building at SummerGlen. Combined with the Tailored Foam insulation in the concrete block walls, this special application will help lower energy costs and improve comfort in the Grand Hall building.

Interior framing of the Grand Hall continues. In these photos, the stage area is starting to take shape and the entry doors are being installed. We are just beginning to shingle the roof and work is progressing on window installation.

Construction continues at a rapid pace. The roof structure has been completed and the underlayer added for the roof deck. At this point, the elevation of the building is apparent, and from the interior one can get a good idea of the size of the main meeting area.

Our new Grand Hall is really starting to take form with today's installation of roof trusses. In these photos we use a giant crane to "fly" the trusses into place. The concrete walls of the structure were completed last week, and today is the one month anniversary of the start of construction.

Wow, only two weeks into construction, and already the exterior walls are going up on the new Grand Hall. Mason are shown building the concrete block wall shell of the 8,000 square foot building.

The concrete floor slab for the new Grand Hall was poured early in the morning on Monday, April 20. Using a large concrete pump, workers have pumped more than 5,000 cubic feet of concrete to create building foundation and the 8,000 square foot slab for the Grand Hall. The plastic sheathing you see in the photos is a vapor barrier installed after soil termite treatment

Construction on SummerGlen's new Grand Hall officially started the week of April 6, 2009, with pouring of the 8,000 square foot building's concrete foundation. Shown at right are photos of the pouring process, using a large concrete pumping truck and crane.
